It is with great sadness we learned today about the passing of Great Grandmaster Ralph Castro. A true legend in the martial arts, GGM Castro was in inspiration to many, especially in the Bay Area. I had the opportunity and honor to compete in the famous CKC in the early 90's, being there to see GGM Castro doing what he's best at. Our deepest condolences to the Castro family and all members of his organization. With deep appreciation and respect - Daniel Tomizaki #ralphcastro #martialartsloss

Saturday night was Parent's Night Out aka PNO. We had a lot of fun. Si jeh Bryn was amazing with her balloon animals, hats, swords and shields. The rope was a hit as well; both for climbing and swinging. We had pizza, popcorn and cupcakes. Our next one is coming up on Feb 16th. #tomizakischampions #parentsnightout #PNO #kidspajamaparty

Congratulations to the people in the 1st belt graduation of 2019!!! Great team meeting afterwards too. Thank you to all the instructors and assistants that made the graduation run so smooth! Also, good new.... new carpet to be installed in the ladies' changing room on Tuesday!

KUNG FU SPIRIT After the last class Wednesday night, as student mentioned part of the carpet was wet in the ladies' changing room. Upon further investigation, we discovered flooding in the employee/supply room, the changing room and under the mats. It was just the 2 of us; Master Tomizaki and I. We had to completely empty the employee room, flip mats, move furniture..... After 2+ hours, we called it quits. It was still pouring outside and there was no where for the water to go. The ladies changing room went from have a corner wet, to be under water. We got to bed a little after 1 am. The next morning we got up, knowing there would be a mess. To combat the fatigue, I made a big breakfast! The first student arrived at the school and was distraught over what he saw. Then, the second thing out of his mouth was, "What can I do to help?". We gave him a rag to help clean the mats. The next student did the same. An instructor who was free, came in and helped. With five of us working, we were able to get so much done, and it made the task seem less daunting. Later, in the afternoon, another mom/student came in and said "What can I do?" She cleaned the bathroom and helped sweep the floor. Another mom had texted me to offer to come in and help as well. We appreciated it so much. Thank you!! #kungfuspirit #tomizakischampions #grateful

It was a lot of fun! Congratulations to the new assistants and to the new Black Belts! #tomizakischampions #yearendparty #blackbeltpromotions #talentshow

We had our 12th Year End Party and Talent Show this past Saturday. Before we started, I played this summary of past parties. It started in 2007 as a Year End Party with promotions and demos. We had a food barrel already that first year in 2007, and we had Sister Ann from the Bay Area Crisis Nursery as our special guest. Around 2009 or 2010 we started to add the Talent Show. We've had some kids who have performed in every show! I'll post pictures from this year's event soon. Thank you to everyone who helped set up, clean up, bring food and table and chairs. We couldn't do it without you! Background music by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons and Glee #tomizakischampions #yearendparty #talentshow

Check out the new promo video by Bryn Dexheimer for the 11th ITKFA Chinese Martial Arts Championship. Note: the new tournament website is still under construction and will be up by January. background music by F-777 Kung Fu'd

Greetings, Please help us fill up the food barrel! We usually fill 2 every year before the holidays. The food from the Food Bank goes everywhere; from the Monument Crisis Center to other nonprofit organizations serving the ill, needy and children. They distribute food directly to low-income people at community sites. Thank you!

We had some Halloween fun yesterday with our annual Halloween parties. Everyone had great costumes and we had a lot of fun! Even parents had great costumes! #happyhalloween #tomizakischampions

... and then I called si jeh Bryn to come perform. She was sitting outside. But she ran in like a champion. She also performed this after the nunchakus seminar taught by Master Tomizaki in Brazil on Oct 18th.

And then I called on the instructors to do something on the spot. I love the kids expressions that are watching!

Some juniors put on a demo for the kids that came for the Bully Awareness Workshop. They put it together quickly and did a great job!

Thank you to the volunteers and the donations that helped make our Open House & Bully Awareness Workshops a success. * A shout out to Dunkin' Donuts on Clayton Rd - GM John Co * A shout out to Mickel London - Manager, Costco Wholesale * A shout out to Kristov - Strictly to Go Pizza on Clayton Rd Thank you for your donations! We just got back from attending the 10th ITKFA Chinese Martial Arts Championship in Sao Paulo, Brazil. A huge THANK YOU to our Brazilian brothers/sisters. The event was so well run, and everyone was so kind to our students and guest. It takes a LOT of work to promote a tournament, and it's not done alone. There were over 100 volunteers assisting - from admission, concessions, making sure all the judges had food/water/trash, etc. There's the set-up and the clean up. There's the scorekeepers, timekeepers, and ring organizers. Then there were over 30 judges rotating thru rings - most were school owners. Some were also competing later in the day. We appreciate everything they do. There were visiting Masters as well, who helped judge the 3 Star events. There were 3 levels in the 3 Star ; Juniors (U18), Adults and Instructors. Masters Jimmy Wong, Sergio Queiroz, Francisco Nobre, Carlos Aguiar, Master Wah (wing chun in Brazil) and Master Leung (wing chun from Hong Kong). #ITKFA #ITKFAChineseMartialArtsChampionship
