Happy Year 4706! The year of the Rat
This will be a year of continuous growth and development. The Chinese New Year started on Feb. 7th. Tomizaki's Champions Kung Fu Institute celebrated the date with a traditional Chinese banquet. We took up half the restaurant and had a lot of fun!
Since the addition of a custom made 20 ft steel heavy bag rack (with capacity up to 7 heavy bags!) and the sparring training, students have been really improving their skills and conditioning. Master Tomizaki will be taking three adult students to challenge their skills in a competition in February.
Back in the 80's, Master Tomizaki was the most senior instructor at his sifu's Praying Mantis school in Brazil. In 1991, two years after moving to the USA, three of his classmates/students in Brazil went on to open a school together: "Instituto de Kung Fu Shaolin". During a visit in 1992, Master Tomizaki conducted the first Choy Lay Fut seminar in Brazil, planting the seed for the future growth and development of this style in the country. Their school grew to become the biggest in the country. Today, the three original founders of the school have moved on to develop their own schools. Tomizaki's Champions Kung Fu Institute in California, USA and Instituto de Kung Fu Shaolin in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as well as their affiliates, will be sister schools on the path of development and teaching of traditional Chinese Martial Arts.
